DO NOT spend the money on a Z170 board unless you are getting an unlocked i5-6600k or i7-6700k. Assuming you are choosing one of those two processors, you really can't go wrong with a lot of the Z170 boards. They have changed some things with Skylake and the power delivery system isn't quite as important as it used to be. I would look for a board that has the features you want (for me, USB 3.1, good on-board audio, and an awesome color scheme). Pick whatever has what you want, and whatever matches your build the best. The Asus Z170 Pro is a nice board. Check out reviews as well.

Don't bother with a Z170 board then. It will be a waste. Z170 is dedicated to unlocked overclockable chips and wouldn't make sense with a regular locked i5-6600.

I might actually get the i5 6600k now.. Do you know what the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming chipset complexity is?

low, medium, high or extreme?

I would say it is on par with most mid-range boards. Not something insane like the MSI X-Power Titanium, and not bottom of the barrel either. I think you would do just fine with the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming. I would definitely recommend you getting the 6600k. It is worth the extra money. Just make sure you get a good CPU cooler. The 6600k doesn't come with a stock Intel cooler.

Will the Cooler master 212X do the trick? It is 120mm, will it block the corsair vengeance RAM?

And one last question, will the motherboard support 2133MHz RAM?

Any Skylake board should support 2133mhz. I cannot say for sure if that cooler will block your ram or not. Do an image search on Google and see what it looks like when mounted. I would say that cooler will be perfectly fine as long as you aren't shooting for some ridiculous overclock. Just benchmark and watch your temperatures and you can find a happy medium.

Yeah. I will be gaming. I hardly think that I have to overclock that much.. It will only increase FPS by like 1

Anyway, thanks for your help! :)

The Z170i is a mini itx sized motherboard. I would go with the Z170 Pro Gaming between the two, unless you are getting a very small ITX sized case. If you are doing the most common mid-tower case, the Z170 Pro Gaming is the way to go.

the z170 has more expansion slots, can hold twice as much ram,and has mere usb ports
the z170i is slightly more compact, and includes wifi and bluetooth
