Actually the question is pretty simple, what type of games consume or need more cpu power? Is there some common requirement or feature that they all have and makes them cpu-depentant?

mostly physics, AI and all those math-related stuff in games. For example, in GTA V if you crank up "population density" and "population diversity", your CPU will need to calculate a lot more stuff (like the movement of their bodies and the ragdoll animations).

So, if I understood properly, puzzle or thrill games will require less cpu because the environment in which the player moves/acts is pretty small and the possibilites aren't very high either, nor are there many (if not any at all) AI's or multiple entities.

 

Am I correct?

Correct to a point. Most physics calculations run on the CPU, as was mentioned above wit hthe GTAV example. But Portal 2 (A puzzle game) requires a bit of cpu power due to the obviously complex calculations involved.
