Not sure when this started happening but it's been a while for sure, after trying everything i could find and contacting my ISP i'll now post here and see what you guys have to say :P

So my internet keeps going from 25mb/s download to around 0.2mb/s or even slower, it happens what seems like at random times and as far as i can tell only affects my own computer.

I use a homeplug system to make the internet reach my PC in my room and so is a wired connection, my home built PC does not have WIFI and i have had it for almost 2 years now.

I've noticed that the issue happens less at night however it might just be a coincidence i'm not entirely sure.

The internet one second will be 100% fine then the next it will grind to a hault but will not actually disconnect at the windows icon (still shows connected) although it will take FOREVER to load internet pages and then will eventually give up.

Not sure what to do tbh, any suggestions? I've tried:

  • Checking for driver updates
  • Moving PC next to router
  • Limiting background services and boot programs in msconfig
  • Running anti virus checks, malwarebites and avast
  • Resetting router

Any help is GREATLY appreciated, can't play WoW atm without disconnecting randomly it sucks :(

Thanks!

I've seen this happen before. At least in my experience, it had something to do with how the house was wired and the circuits each plug was on. Or the plugs aren't communicating properly. Here are my recommendations:

- try using different outlets

- leave them unplugged for about half a minute each

- reset the units (if possible)

- test other Ethernet ports for similar results
