Hey, would like to get input from any owners of the mentioned wireless router or from the learned about the issues I am having with this router.

I am using the D-LINK DIR-865L Wireless AC 1750 Dual Band Router as the main router which replaced the old Linksys WRT160Nv3 I used previously.

I am having issues which I have never experienced on any wireless router before and have no clue what could be causing it. At random times during the day, within a period of 24hrs, the connection for the 2.4GHz band just refuses to work, at least once. It isn't like the internet connection was dropped or the wifi signal dropped.

If a device is connected, you'd simply have no internet access nor can the routers web interface be accessed. If a device tries to disconnect and reconnect, connection is simply refused. SSID is shown and can be clicked/tapped but devices will never be able to connect to this band until the router is manually restarted.

The funny thing is, its only affecting devices connected or connecting to the 2.4GHz band. Its all fine and dandy when connected or connecting to the 5GHz band.

List of things I have tried:

Restored factory defaults and setting things up from scratch

Updating the firmware to both an official one and ISP specific version

Changing to a less crowded and empty channel

Using only the very basic WEP security with everything else on default

Using the exact default settings

Pretty sure I tried a lot more things. I am at a loss on what is going on with this router and the constant daily reboots just to keep it working is getting tiring with each passing day. Any suggestions would be helpful, willing to try anything besides flashing a custom firmware or tinkering with the insides since I don't have a reliable spare.

It could be a faulty device. Did you buy it online or instore? Is it your router causing the problem, or one of your computers? If not, it could be your isp. What broadband is it, adsl, cable or nbn? I mean, I could have been talking nonsense, but hey it's the least I can do. Remember that 1, 6 and 11 are the best channels to use.

It was basically a "freebie" by the ISP. There were complaints about this router from the ISP subscriber community forum but they were all related to improper configuration of the settings etc. It was not recent but this problem did start up months after getting it.

Pretty sure its the router. Imagine having every wireless capable device connected to the 2.4GHz band just being unable to access the internet or connecting to the SSID. If any of them tries to reconnect, it will fail. On PCs it would be "Unable to connect to network" on Androids it would just be "Connecting" followed by nothing.

While all this is happening, any devices on the 5GHz band or reconnecting to it will be uninterrupted.

Channel-wise its on Ch1 since this is the only router on it for some lucky reason.

Calling my ISP and telling them about it just prompts them into reading off a prepared list of "Stupid questions to ask callers, assume they are dumb" kind of thing.

Kinda hoping I am not the only person having this issue.

Oh and thank you for the response.
