so, i , because of cost, and thinking about buying a windows key, and downloading and installing windows. i have seen posts on you tube, and read posts about doing it. but i would like to hear how it worked out for someone in real life. if there was any problems, if 2 months later it failed, or if everything has worked smooth as non chunky peanut butter. also, a recommendation on a good website to buy it at would be nice.

Any third party website that sells windows keys for cheap is shit. All of them sell MSDN keys, selling them is against MS TOS, they constantly get revoked and you aren't in any way supporting microsoft by buying one, all you're doing is giving money to some asshat who exploited the system. So you either pirate it or buy a full retail copy (Also since enforcing piracy is against the rules on this forum, but telling people and suggesting msdn keys isn't??)

If you have to get a cheap one then try the Microsoft Software swap subreddit but use it at your own risk as you could potentially get a MSDN key that will stop working in a few months.

Why would you willingly want to support microsoft at this point in time?

My point is if this forum is against piracy which is stealing, why isn't it against msdn keys which is paying thieves basically against the rules?

I don't know, no one has ever gotten in trouble for suggesting reddit, also it's not stealing if the seller acquired the keys legitly.

no one on reddit/kinguin/g2a/other third parties has legit keys, they're all msdn keys. That is against ms tos. so is piracy. So you either buy it legit from a retailer or you pirate it, you don't pay money to some asswipe who exploited.

Well some people don't see it that way, they think if you pay money for the chance to get a legit key it's not pirating.

The only difference i see between this and pirating is that you pay money to some guy to obtain a illegitimate copy or getting it for free.

Technically they are legit copies of window but they are not supposed to be resold so there is a chance MS will deactivate the key at some point.

they aren't even meant for the masses, not to mention being resold. When you buy a key, you and x amount of other people get the same key, and ms deactivates them and some point in time, it's not a permanent solution.

well, apparently (at least i hope this is what is happening) i do not need a windows key immediately. i have been told there is a 30 day trial of windows 10? i got my new machine up and running last night, and i was able to get online and do about half the updating and downloading that needs to happen. i would RATHER just buy a windows key from microsoft. its just being on a SMALL fixed income, it is just hard to get everything done at one time.
