So sometimes my PC (i3 4130, 4GB 1333Mhz, GT220, ASRock B85M-HDS) randomly freezes on startup on the BIOS Splash screen. It won't do anything unless I hit the reset button on the case. Then it just boots fine and everything works like it's supposed to. What do you think could cause this? Reinstalling Windows didn't help btw. HELP PLEASE

EDIT: Forgot to mention the CPU Fan has a problem where it makes a grinding sound on startup if maybe that has to do something with the freezes.

Have you updated your BIOS?

Yes, it's on the latest version 1.80. When I got the PC tho (got it used) the BIOS was still on the oldest version and the CPU wasn't officially supported. (I think beacuse when I updated the BIOS in the changelog thingy it said 'Added support for 4th Gen Core CPU's.') Even though it said the CPU (i3 4130) has been supported from the first version in the compatible CPU's list.

Remove all the external USB hardware components except your mouse and keyboard, sometimes the motherboard takes a while for reading the USB devices which are connected during the boot.

i would suggest unplugging the cpu fan, sometimes the rpm readings can cause a crash. if that doesn't work, remove the cpu entirely and check if it will boot past the post screen. if so then plug the cpu back in and reset the bios settings. let me know if it still isn't working after that.
