Do you have AGC enabled? How is that Blue Yeti connected to your system? Skype has a setting to auto adjust the volume. Disable that maybe? idk ...

I don't know how to enable/disable automatic gain control, the blue yeti is connected through a 3rd party Mini USB cable I had lying around, I lost the one that came with the yeti, and Ill check the audio settings in skype.

e: OK so in Skype call tab there's a section with audio settings and I disabled automatically adjust audio levels, and I realized from what I said from my original problem, when I control the sound level through the sound app, it adjusts the Skype level one too so I think I've got it figured out now

I have the blue Yeti and as most of you know it picks up EVERYTHING, even if I use the hardware gain knob turned all the way down on the microphone it still picks up pretty much everything. And I know you can go to sound and click recording and properties on your microphone and adjust the level through there but after I do the skype audio test, it's back at 100.
