Printer disappearing on programs

i am using windows 8.1 and am having a reoccurring issue were programs on my pc search for my printer in "All Control Panel Items\Printers" but my pc has the printers in devices and printers.

i resolved it last time by reinstalling my printer driver but it has only been a month since it first happened.

any help would be greatly appreciated.
