Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I saw Linus’ “Under $150 Budget Gaming 8 Core CPU, Motherboard & 16GB RAM” video. I have always wanted to build a pc. But for reasons that are unknown to me as well, I haven’t actually done it to this day.

This video however, seemed like a fun and cheap concept to finally ascend to the masterrace. I’ve been researching for some time, but I still have some issues.

For the CPU’s, I was planning to buy two Xeons X5450 (quad core 3.0GHz) which are available on eBay for around $20 each. (Any CPU would be fine if it is a quadcore 3.0>GHz and a LGA771 socket.) For the GPU I was looking at the 380 or 380x, and 8 GB ECC ddr2 for the RAM.
Off course, I am going to need an LGA771 motherboard, but here think are getting tricky.

Unless it is absolutely impossible, I want to have a SSD in my system. But as Linus warned me, those server motherboards out there will not have fast datarates, and will make a SSD a lot less useful.
Are there currently any motherboards that do provide normal datarates? And if not, would it be an option to buy a msata SSD and plug it in a PCIe slot using a converter? Or will the PCIe slot not provide such speed? Also, in this scenario I am going to need at least two PCIe slots in my motherboard which would be a challenge as well. I did find some motherboards on eBay, which seem to be all right. But I am very new to this PC building so I probably overlooked some things.

Maybe you guys will be able to help me ascend, and if not, thanks anyways for reading!

Assuming you can find a motherboard with 2 PCIe slots, you can use PCI cards that give SATA ports.

a 4 SATA port PCI card costs around $60, and will give you the fast rates not only for an SSD, but for other drives as well.

some even have onboard SSD mounts.

Different PCPartPickers for different countries:

UK-----Italy----Canada-----Spain-----Germany-----Austrailia-----New Zealand-----'Murica-----France-----India

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

Thank you for replying!

So if I understood correctly, this: http://m.ebay.com/itm/Intel-p-n-CPU-S5000SL-A-Dual-Xeon-CPU-LGA771-Server-Motherboard-E11025-302-/281811738032?nav=SEARCH

Would be a suitable Board?
