IP Camera with FreeNAS

Hey, i have been considering installing some IP cameras at our home and also parents, would IP Camera be a good idea. I was hoping it would allow me to record like pass 24-38 hour footage to my freenas. I am able to record to HTTPS/STFP. Is there a another way of doing this? currently i have no budget but i dont need any thing too extreme. Thanks
