Hi, so today I opened task manager and noticed the cpu usage is around 85-100% when I have a game (not very demanding - ffxiv), twitch stream, steam, and a few tabs open simultaneously. I do experience a very very slight and infrequent stutter when i have everything open like that. Always thought it's lag but could it be the cpu sweating too much?

Right now I'm looking at the temperatures and it's a steady 49 on average across all 4 cores so it doesn't seem like anything is holding the cpu back.

It's overclocked to 4.1ghz (it literally won't go higher, that's about my luck with silicon lottery)

Well but since I'm here to ask a question and not just cry about first world problems, here it goes:

Should I be looking at a 4790k upgrade, and would it be at all worth it?

Would I still be getting 85-100% usage on it doing all that?

How long would it be before 4790k starts bottlenecking flagship gpus?

Thanks for the help in advance!

It should hopefully help, as a higher thread count will assist with multi-tasking.

An i7 would be better, by a ton. But if you aren't having noticeable performance issues, you don't need to upgrade.

I.. don't know if it can. In most AAA games, dual 980 ti's would still be the limiting factor, not a 4790k.

(Some CPU intensive games MIGHT, but that's unlikely)

i7 4790k | MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition | G.Skill Ripjaws X 16 GB | Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB | 2x Seagate Barracuda 2TB | MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr V | Fractal Design R4 | EVGA 650W

A gaming PC for your budget: $800 - $1000 - $1500 - $1800 - $2600 - $9001
