Actually, the i7 6700K performs better for gaming than its Haswell-E counterparts. The 5820K would be a better choice if you're doing some workstation applications on the side.

true, but im just getting ready for hyperthreaded games i suppose, if and when they ever come out

tbh i wonder if anyone does their benchmark with real world scenarios where there are some background softwares

instead of a clean windows install and just the games running, though i suppose this would be hard as there're many variables

Cpu recommendations for gaming

GTX950 or R9 Radeon 290 - i3 61000 (low)

GTX 980 or R9 radeon 390 - i5 4xxx-6xxx (Mid)

Titan X or GTX980Ti - i7 6700k or Xeon 1231 v3 or (if got money and really want- i7 5xxx or i7 5960x

950 is kind of a waste, honestly just get a b-stock 960 from EVGA (least that's what I would do)

Low end gpu-(low - high priced cpu)

Medium end gpu-(low - high priced cpu)

PLZ FILL ALL CPU NAMES

This is my Personal Preference.

$400-500 Gaming PC (Intel Pentium G3258/8GB RAM/GTX 750Ti or GTX 950)

"For this build playing games on Low to Medium some Old Games can run at Max Setting but do keep might your limited in Multi Core Games"

$600-700 Gaming PC (Intel i5-4460/8GB RAM/GTX 950 or GTX 960)

"Now this is what Current Standard for my Self im not saying we might be the same but for me i think this CPU can do a Solid Performance in Medium to High Settings and still be depending on the Games you will play"

$800-900 Gaming PC (Intel Xeon E3 1231-V3/16GM RAM/GTX 960 or GTX 970)

"This is what i think i might end up with my Current build can come to this if i really Grow Old with my Games but for now i cant still Justify a $60 Pentium G3258 to a $260 Xeon E3 1231 V3"

NOTE THIS IS FOR MY VERY OWN OPINION NOT SAYING THIS IS WHAT GAMES ONLY NEED.

For OP here is my Current Setup.

CPU: Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Overclock @ 4.3GHz w/ 1.234V ($55)
MoBo: ASUS B85M-Gamer Bios Version @ 0603 ($65)
RAM: G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB(4GBx2) 1600MHz Downspeed @ 1333MHz ($40)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB ($90)
SSD: ADATA Premium SP550 120GB ($30)
GPU: EVGA GTX950 FTW 2GB ($180)
PSU: Corsair VS450 ($30)
CASE: NZXT S340 Black ($70)
Total: $470

Current Games i play are very Limited i can count them Lol....

Dota 2 Reborn and CS:GO

Only Bottleneck i can see here is my Very very Old 1080p 60hz Monitor....

Hope this can help you i really cant tell my CPU Performance in Other Games someone else here in the Forum can help you if you can List the Games you really might be Playing.
