new headphone recommendations?

i've been having a hard time getting a new pair of headphones. my razer electras are already over four years old and are starting to suffer.

i was kind of hoping for closed-back over-ear commuter style cans that fold flat so i can wear them on my neck every once in a while. i've been eyeballing the AKG K551s in white,however i'm wondering if there are other contenders with the same specs for less.

I use Beyerdynamic DT770's - they're amazing  Definitely try to get them if you can afford it

Specs does not tell anything about the headphones when it comes to how they sound, maybe look at AKG K553 Pro

i'm not at all interested in getting the optimal sound quality. i just want the thing to work nicely in whatever situation i get into. that's why i said commuter cans.

And I just said that specs does not tell anything about how headphones sound and then I recommend the 553 pro, because a lot of people like them better than the 551.

that's not important - i really doubt AKG, or any other professional headset maker, would make headphones so phonetically horrible that no one would recommend them.

I am just trying to help you and inform you. I am not saying nobody wouldnt recomend them I am just saying that alot of people like the 553 more than the 551. The 553 are a mix of the k550 and the 551 I think because the 551 are easy to drive and the 550 are a bit harder to drive but a lot of people liked the sound of the 550 more so they made a mix of them. And calm down dude.

personally if people liked the sound of the 550 more,that's great for them. i just don't think they're inconspicuous enough to be used regularly in public.

The 550/551/553 looks the same and you where looking at the 551 so why would the 553 not be a good headphone for that. If you want the best for your money get the 553.

the 553s look gigantic. i've already had ergonomic issues with razer electras so i was hoping for something smaller but not on-ear.

okay,well,maybe AKG doesn't have anything to offer for me. are the audio-technica ATH-MSR7s any good?

i just found these while searching amazon so i really don't know much about them.

alright then. working for a few weeks and then pull the trigger on these. hopefully they don't come with a super obnoxious quarter-inch jack AT hasn't mentioned

They are made for on the go, so it will be 3.5mm
