3D on 60hz

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if I buy some active shutter 3d glasses with an emitter, will they work with 3D vision? If not, is there any other program that they will work with? I know that since my monitor is only 60hz it will be at 30hz but I'm ok with that. I just want to watch 3D movies, not play 3D games. Is it possible? Thanks
