So i bought a pc without gpu, with q6600 2.4Ghz, intel mobo, 2 gb of 400mhz ram I bump into loads of problems. Paid 60euros.

I got some parts from my friend for free, a 9400gt gpu, and 7950gt, but it requires 6pin connector. Got some 533 ecc ram. (2x 1gb) when i put in the ram pc just beeps and nothing shows up on monitor, old ram works. ( i think i should take motherboard from a pc with my cpu socket from which i took the ram from.

I put in 9400GT and fan is not spinning, i thought it would spin under load or smth...

I touched it for test and heatsink was hot, so i put about 140mm corsair fan to keep it cool, it worked. then i spined the fan few times with my finger and it started spinning super fast, so i touched it again and it spins normally now.

Windows doesnt detect the gpu, well im installing Nvidia GeForce experience and its stuck loading...

I'll try to get a molex > PCIe adapter and run the other card.

Any ideas how to upgrade my shitty rig???? now it runs very slow

What motherboard do you have? it probablt doesn't support ECC memory (or the Q6600 doesn't support ECC).

In terms of making your computer faster...get a GPU that isn't 8 years old (if your intention is gaming), and get more ram. But understand that you're still using an 8 year old CPU and it's going to be slow no matter what you do.

I don't think the Q6600 supports ECC, I may be wrong but it probably doesn't but if it does, some motherboards need ECC enabled in BIOS like my D975XBX2 does, but as I've read a lot of 775 boards just don't support ECC at all.

The Ark doesn't list ECC support (or lack thereof), so I think it's dependent on the board (which like you said wouldn't be easy to find).

I found in ARK that my motherboard doesnt support ECC

Well there you go, it's the RAM. BTW it's not a shitty rig, it's still a quite capable system, when you get the correct RAM, enjoy it ;)

Also yes go with at least a 750TI, but if you can afford it I'd recommend a 950

if it allways hangs at net framework install it manually, you can down load it from the microsoft web site

you already have ddr2 800mhz, cpu z says 400 on 800mhz ddr2, so you can use those rams, they are normal rams.

mhz on ram doesn't change a lot, buy other 2 gb/4 will help you a bit, but it will not change a lot, because the GPU is very very slow, the 7950gt is a bit better, but before buying a Molex to PCI-E Adapter, oper your case and see if your PSU as got like 20 AMP total on 12V line, but you will still have an very old card..

anyway the q6600 is not the problem, and if you wanna overclock it (you will need a better PSU, if he doesn't have not even one PCI, i don't think is a good PSU..) with good thermal paste, you can OC it to 3.1ghz without change volts and with stock cooler, without any system problem, i had it.

one thing i can tell you is: try to find some 7950/R9280-7970-R9280X with bios problem, they have dual bios, so you can just change the starting bios, and reflash the bios, and they will cost you like 50€..
