Deleted my "boot.efi" and I can't boot my os x partition

X01Mark

So  was trying to install kali linux on my iMac and in the process I installed a boot manager called rEFInd. After installing it I decided to uninstall it again by deleting the boot.efi file located in my core services folder. I used the terminal to delet it. I ran the code sudo -r -rf and the directory of the boot.efi to delete it. Now when I turn on my iMac and hold down the option key I only see the recovery partition... Any help please?

I wouldn't want to loose any of the information on this hdd.

Thanks in advanced.

Boot into a live CD like Ubuntu and then check your hard drive. You might have deleted everything on it.

You might be able to restore the boot loader if you use the OS X recovery. You get into that by holding down command + R during the startup.

Sorry for the late reply. I manage to fix the problem the same day I posted this.

I've already done that but that was not the issue. I only deleted the boot.efi file meaning that I had no access to the partition since it wouldn't see/recognize that it was there. All I had to do was reinstall os x and I was good to go. Nothing got deleted and my computer boots back normally.
