Hey everyone, I've got a bit of a problem on my hands. I recently bought this:

http://www.amazon.com/Ebaco-Composite-Converter-Scaler-1080P/dp/B00YGGZT1O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1457490361&sr=8-3&keywords=av+to+hdmi

It's an av to hdmi converter. I am using it to hook up my Playstation 2 to my AOC I2367F monitor. The video works fine, it's just the audio. I tried to plug in a small set of old-ish Sony speakers, but I'm not getting my audio. When I start up a game, I get a kind of white noise. It does the same thing when I plug in headphones. I know it's not the adapter or my hdmi cable or anything because everything works fine on my tv. Anyone got any ideas?

So is there an andio port on your monitor?

You could look at which audio devices there are and select through them and see if any work.

Yes, I have a 3.5mm output.

I tried looking for that. This is a ps2 though. It doesn't have any audio selection menu (at least, none that I've found).

Except that I'm not trying to connect my pc to the monitor's audio...

yes but the input of audio and video is going to the hdmi so if you select the hdmi cable and put your speakers in your comp or monitor it might work.

I'm sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean?

When i plug my hdmi to my gpu and tv i need to go to audio devices and select the tv so the tv speakers work. now in the link you have provided there is an input(being the ps2) and output(hdmi) so the hdmi is outputting audio and that you should try to select it and see if that would work.

there's no where to select the ps2 hdmi audio if that's what you're getting at. I'm not running it through my computer. What I do on my computer will have no effect on the audio output of the ps2.

I did. Speakers, headphones, and the inter=grated speakers all do not work. I suspect that my monitor may not like the ps2 output, but I don't know.

Yeah it might be the ps2 output you could also check the monitor volume if you already haven't and maybe mess around with the settings?

Tried it. Nothing's worked :/

At this point I think I might just get another adapter and plug my ps2 audio directly to the speakers.

If I remember correctly there is an option in the system settings under sound to turn 'optical/SPDIF out' on or off.  Make sure it's turned off. Double check the connections, unplug the PS2 for at least 30 seconds (or if it has a hard reset button do that) and try it again.
