Bored forum users!

Could you assist me in finding a gaming laptop that is under $2000 and has a GTX 970m or a way of putting in a desktop gpu. I'll be using it for school and gaming so it'd be amazing if it could be thin and light! I know this is asking for a bit much but there just might be a laptop around that i cannot see. I know linus has a killer gaming laptop for $800 but 15.6 inches is too big! Please have it 14" or lower.

[edit]

I forgot to mention that i am in Australia so the prices will go up by a large amount! Anything above $2000 USD is most definitely out of the question but $1599 is pushing it!

Aorus X3 Plus V5

14", 970M, Skylake, 3K display, 16GB RAM.

Basically better specs than the latest Razer Blade, at just over $2000

And Linus has a Razer Blade 2015 (14"), what $800 laptop are you referring to?

Isn't the x3+ v5 a 970m SLI model?

Nope, its bigger brother, the 15.6" Aorus X5 has two GTX 965Ms in SLI

The Razer Blade 14 is definitely a great laptop however, it comes at a very hefty price tag. $1,599 USD (on the Australian website it's $3,799). It is on my list however i will only consider buying it if the price drops or if it is announced that it will be compatible with the razer core. If none of that happens i am considering the Razer Blade Stealth!

It's DARgenfire, but don't worry. Plenty of people make that mistake. This is what I get for creating this username when I was 9.

Oh, so it is. Australia has crap prices.

The reason I suggested the x3+ v5 over the Blade is because:

1) More storage (not to mention in a fast RAID 0 config)

2) Skylake + DDR4 (Razer Blade still running Haswell)

3) Better cooling

4) Power supply is large, but reliable. (Blade's Power Supply is small, but lots of people have reported them frying, making weird noises and getting really hot).

5) Aorus warranty is 2 years, plus additional 3 months when you register the laptop on their website (Blade's warranty is 1 year, and you have to pay to get more)

6) Better IO (More ports, such as an Ethernet port, which the Blade does not have)

I say all this because I actually had to choose between the Earlier version X3 (The X3 Plus v3) which has Haswell, and the 2015 Razer Blade. I am currently sitting in class, typing this reply on my X3. And I love it.

WARNING The Razer Blade STEALTH (which I was not talking about) does not have a dedicated GPU in it (which is why it is so cheap)

The way it works is you have to buy a dock that you plug the Blade Stealth into. This dock needs you to buy a desktop GPU to stick in there.

So the Razer Blade Stealth has no gaming grunt when on the go, the dock is expensive and so is buying a desktop GPU.

PLEASE do not confuse the Razer Blade 14 (2015) which is the one I was talking about

vs the Razer Blade Stealth (which I would not remotely consider worthwhile money-wise)

Yep. Call me crazy, but I don't think Apple should label Macbook Pros as "Pros" unless they have a dGPU. (only the most expensive SKU has one)

If you think about it, what exactly IS different between the 13" Macbook Air, and the 13" Macbook Pro?

Air has dual core i3 or i5, while Pro has dual core i5 only

Air has less RAM (depends on SKU though)

Pro has better display.

Pro has slightly bigger battery

Pro has force touch trackpad.

Not much (performance-wise) is different between the 13" model Airs and Pros (Keep in mind the 15" Pros do have quad-core i7s)

But I digress

Probably the name and design. That's what Apple's products are anyway.
