Y510p ssd?

So I am thinking about getting the lowest end y510p and I was wondering if there is a way to put in an ssd and keeping the 1tb in it? Reason I ask is cuz the 2 that are a higher price have ssd's and I want to know if I could just put one in the cheaper version.

It probably uses a m-sata slot, but there is a chance it uses a m.2 ngff ssd. I think Lenovo started using that form factor, but I don't remember which laptop uses it will look into it.

The Y510p has an Ultrabay where things, like a 2nd GPU, optical drive or hard disk drive can be installed. You just need the appropriate tray.

Ok thanks, I would just replace the hdd with an ssd but I am going to do some media production hence the i7 and some gamming hence getting a dedicated gpu. So a small ssd only will not hold everything I want.

I believe Lenovo sells them in their shop. Or, eBay. Remember that this will make dual graphics not possible.

It has not been made available by Lenovo yet... and no word on when they will ever carry it.

Found out what slot it uses.  It uses a M.2 NGFF ssd. the only problem is they aren't really that many you can get.

You can still use the 42mm M.2 slot though.  Although it is a bit hard to find those for retail at the moment.

No not really the standard is very recent and I've only seen like 1 or 2 reviews on M.2 ssds

Awesome.... Alrighty. Now to sell the second computer so I can buy the laptop. 2 desktops are quite unnecessary for me lol.

Don't really know anyone who needs 2 desktops If you don't enjoy money you could get a 1tb ssd.
