Hey guys.  I am looking to repaste my CPU here soon.  I was investigating Liquid Metal Thermal Paste, specifically Coolaboratory Liquid Ultra.  Is there anything I should know about using a liquid metal thermal paste?  Is the application process the same as using something like Arctic Silver 5?

liquid metal needs to be spread out carefully by hand as it doesn't spread like a normal paste with pressure from the cooler. In general the liquid metal pastes are best used on the die of a delidded chip. This video shows clearly how it doesn't spread like a normal "paste"

I didn't know it was best used under the heat spreader.  That rules out liquid metal.  Thank you!

I won't make a difference for standard cooling, at best maybe 2C cooler than AS5.

I'd just buy the Noctua NT-H1 and call it a day.

I'll check it out.  I'm also looking at IC Diamond 24.  Is it just overpriced?

IC diamond 24 is great stuff as well, pretty much the best on the market.

Indigo Xtreme is the go to liquid metal thermal paste from what I remember.

I'm going to stay away from the liquid metal, but I'll keep that in mind in case I ever have some spare parts to play around with.  It's also good to know that the IC Diamond 24 is really good.  I think it's like $20 on amazon.  I'll probably get that and just hang on to it.  Thanks.
