16ms Response Time acceptable?

My current main-monitor doesn't work properly anymore, so I want to buy a new one.

Since I'm still a student i haven't got a ton of money.

My main-priority for the new monitor is color accuracy, because I'm mainly working on photo und video editing (and grading).

But I also game sometimes and now I found a very good (but also old) IPS monitor at a reasonable price, but it has a response time of 16ms.

 

My current one has 5 ms and I have no idea if i am going to notice that and if it's going to affect anything, because must of the time People don't even accept something with 5ms soo... 

 

Are 16ms still ok for casual gaming and video editing and stuff?

(Probably this is a stupid question, but i really don't know much about this topic.)

I've spent my gaming life with 8ms - wasn't really noticeable. You'll probably be fine

16ms shouldn't cause you to see ghosting as long as you are satisfied with 60fps gaming.

 

(Gray-to-gray) response time simply the time required for a pixel in the display changing from one shade of gray to another.

Response time is a bit complicated since there is no standardized way of measuring it, so some monitors with 15 ms might actually be better than some rated at 5 ms.
