Hello Everyone

My name is Antonio and I am new to PC building and to the form. I have been doing some research for a PC build that I would like to complete. Now this is my first time I have ever started researching parts and/or thinking of building a PC. So sorry if i dont understand everything and Sorry in advance if i ask a dumb question. I am still learning as I go.

My main objective to to build a workstation type PC. I do woodworking and drafting design for houses. So the I will be mostly using cad type software and 3D rendering software. I am also looking into 3D rendering and creation for when i get my 3D printer (hopefully soon). But as of right now i either use my computer at work on my spare time or on slow days to create my projects. Or when I am home i use my laptop, which is very slow.

So i was looking into suggestions on what I should buy and what I should bot buy.

This is a list from PC Part Picker http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/BLnrzy, and my list from memory express includes:

Case - Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Case, Black w/ Window

CPU - Intel Core™ i7-6700K Processor, 4.00GHz w/ 8MB Cache

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler

Motherboad - MSI Z170A PC Mate w/ DDR4-2133, 7.1 Audio, Gigabit LAN, 2-Way CrossFireX

Ram - Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB DDR4 3000MHz CL15 Dual Channel Kit (2 x 16GB)

SSD Hard Drive - Samsung 850 Pro Series Solid State Drive, SATA III, 256GB

HDD Hard Drive - WD Green 4TB Desktop Hard Drive, SATA III w/ 64MB Cache

Optical Drive - Asus BC-12B1ST 12x Blu-ray Combo Drive, SATA, OEM

Video Card - Sapphire FirePro W5100 Professional Graphics Card, 4GB, PCI-E w/ 4x DisplayPort Ports

Power Supply - Corsair Professional Series Platinum HX1000i Modular Power Supply, 1000W

For peripherals: I am going to be using a Logitech MX Wireless Performance Mouse and a Logitech K740 Illuminated Keyboard.

I do not know what I want to use for a display, all i know is i would like a dual screen setup.

So again thank you in advance for all your guys input and hopefully I didnt mess anything up. If I did please let me know.

Thank you

Thank you

You don't need that Corsair Platinum Dominator thingy, and for future reference the proper name is RAM (please don't take that as rude, in my head it didn't sound like it)

Oups, autorelpyed, sorry

Otherwise i'm not a workstation expert myself but I'd question your choice of PSU here. As I said do, I've never builded a PC specifically for workstation purposes, so that might just be ignorant on my part

no no i wont take it as rude. to me this is going to be a learning experience. But i will make the change to the original post . Thank you

If you want to have good price/performance regarding your RAM I'd personally go with something around the 2400mhz sticks, otherwise you need to XMP, which basiccly means you'll need to overclock your RAM, which even myself, and I've only been in this stuff for 4 months now, I'm not even close to trying. Just because, you know, I don't want to fry something worth in the hundreds.

what kind of ram do you suggest going with than. I was hoping for 32gb with 2 sticks. this way if i need more i can upgrade it by adding 2 more sticks

Sure thing, I personally went with ripjaws since I've had previous occurences where their customer support was amazing, so I'd go for a 2X16 kit of 2400mhz ddr4 memory.

You'll save about 180$ CAN. And that's fullpriced, Which I never buy on because I'm a greedy asshat.

Sorry i may be asking dumb questions here but why go with the I7-5820K CPU instead of the I7-6700k ?

and the difference in motherboards. Is the MSI X99 better for my application?

Unless you only do GPU rendering, the 5820K would be better because it has 6 cores and 12 threads. The 6700K only has 4 cores and 8 threads. Rendering times on the 5820K will be noticeably faster.
