Ok so I have a 1Gbps subscribed internet speed in my house and my computer is in my room (Blocked by a sofa, 2 cupboards and 2 walls). I have an Asus USB AC56 to get Wifi to my pc (Speedtest around 85 down and 40  up). I thought that I should try to get better internet speed (I mean like my entire setup costs 2000+ and I don't want to be using only about 1/10 of my internet speed on it). I tried running a 15m Ethernet cable all the way to my pc which turned out great (940mbps up and down) but my parents might not like the cables running around the house so I'm deciding whether to use a 500mbps Aztech powerline. Will it give me better speed than the AC56? If yes, can I have an estimated speed before I buy it? (If possible)

Thanks in advance

I can never recommend gaming over WiFi unless you absolutely have to. We have integrated ethernet in my house so I've never had a reason to play around with powerline, but I would imagine it would be miles better than WiFi.

The only real issue is that some houses don't support powerline ethernet. So yeah, powerline would be better, but you need to make sure it's going to work in your house.

Actually gaming is fine on my pc, I get around 5-10 ping in cs go and some other of my favourite games. I download movies, games and stuff frequently so I'm thinking to get powerline (If there is significant difference)

I have intergrated ethernet in my house but it doesn't go up to my room, my room's port is for telephones only :'(

You more than likely could use powerline from a room next to yours that has an ethernet port. I think the issue with powerline is that it only works if each plug is on the same electrical circuit.

I could be wrong, and I am sure someone else can shine more light on the inner workings of powerline.

Ping isn't all that matters when playing over WiFi. There are other fluctuations in the signal that can occur that can make the experience a nightmare.

Ok thanks for your help! I guess I'll try powerline and see how it goes. If not maybe I'll try to just drill holes in the walls and run the cables through the side of the house and hope everyone's fine with a random cable lying around. (Well at least doesn't block anywhere or anything)

The connection is probably still using a cat5e cable, you just have to get the ethernet jack plate and repunch it down to include all the wires from the cat5e cable.
