Shaw Cable PVR HDD swap

Hello Everyone! 

First post, so we will see how well this goes. My parents are still big into having cable and have been experiencing some slowdowns and issues with there current PVR. the DCT3416. Nw this thing is ancient, like 10-11 years old but the one they have was refurbished a few years ago. The machine is currently NOT under warranty so I am not worried about voiding anything. I my question is, has anyone had any experience with this machine and if so have they performed a hard drive swap on it. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated as every forum post I read regarding it are giving me information from 2009 and earlier.

It was purchased so there will be no replacement for it. Sorry I should of clarified.
