The 5820k is better, but new it costs around as much as a 6700k. Why is the X99 one so expensive?

I used to be quite active here.

Technically the 6700k would be better in this situation(Gaming) but the difference is minimal(especially if the setup is the same price) and I prefer the X99 platform as well.

Motherboards in denmark.. I dont want those god awful looking asrock extreme with the blue colors..... Theres about a 100$ difference in price between the motherboards, and i even went for a nicer looking z170

Oh. Denmark. The 5820k deal is better hands-down if you were wondering.

The price difference between entry X99 and Z170 in the US. Notice the $30 price difference for much more performance.

The price difference is in the motherboard.

The motherboards price is mainly determined by the features it offers, which can affect performance, but in this case neither of these motherboards are going to be responsible for a performance difference between z170 and X99.

X99 boards typically offer 8 DIMM Slots for ram and numerous other features, that is why they tend to cost more.

well in combination like i said, streaming and gaming the 5820k is way better than the 6700k since it has 50% more cores, and thats what counts while encoding.

even from a gaming pov; my 5820k can do 4.9Ghz at 1.35v gaming-stable at least... im running 4.5core/4.5cache at 1.200v rock stable. so silicon lottery is a factor too :P

I was assuming the OP was talking about the different things he would be using it for individually.  In the case that they are simultaneously gaming and streaming you are correct.

That's a nice overclock, I've yet to manually overclock my 5820k but I look forward to it.
