Hi Guys,

So, I go this laptop a month ago to kind of pseudo replace my desktop while I am working away from home for a month. Since I started using the laptop I have noticed that there is some "noise" on the headphone out, the noise becomes unnoticeable when I am actually listening to something but its always noticeable as soon as things become quiet.

So long story short, I need some advice on how to solve this.

My first "go to" option is to get a USB DAC but I'm not sure if that will solve the problem, maybe try USB headphones?

Maybe knowing what could be causing it will help, so does anyone know where I can start to try and figure this out?

P.S.

I am using the stock earbuds I got with my Sony Z3 and I have tried my Sennheiser over ear headset and it is noticeable with both.

Probably EMI inside the laptop. USB headsets have their own amp/dac/thingy so that pretty much removes the issue

Yeah, its kinda good to know that its not something to be worried about, still annoying ATM though.

I have however managed figure out 2 things that cause the noise for me. It seems to be a combinations of having my phone plugged into my laptop and having it plugged into the wall.

Having the laptop plugged into the wall causes the noise (this seems to be constant, unavoidable and not really intrusive) but when I plug my phone into the laptop is gets worse to the point that I can hear it constantly, unplugging the phone reduces the noise as you would expect. Strangely having the phone next to the laptop (not plugged in) does not cause noise...

This is really confusing me, but at least its not something I need to be worried about...
