I turn on my computer, I can enter the BIOS, it will get to the american mega trends screen and ask if I want to continue with the POST. I Press ESC, then black screen. HELP! I tried reseating everything. I am using an ssd as the drive. The SSD is tested and works on other systems.

Try using an Ubuntu USB stick to ensure it is just a hard drive error. Are you able to enter the BIOS?

I'm assuming this is the PC specced out in your profile? When you say that it asks if you want to continue with the POST, does it say anything else, like an error code or anything like that? Or do you mean just exiting the BIOS utility? And, dumb questions incoming, the SSD is being detected by the BIOS, is set as the default boot device, and has an operating system on it, right?

@Runefox No, It is a different system not specced in my bio. When is stays continue with the POST is only says that my RAM, CPU, and SSD is identified, no error code. No not exiting the BIOS. SSD is being detected by BIOS, it is set as default boot device, and yes it has windows 10.

Hm, so the BIOS detects the SSD, and Windows 10 is installed. Did something happen to it, like was the CMOS reset or anything like that? Does the SSD show up in the boot order? Like @FAQBytes said, try booting from a USB or DVD to try and rule out the SSD as a point of failure.

And does the SSD show up in Mass Storage Devices?

@Runefox @FAQBytes Was able to get into mint. Tried the SSD on another desktop system, identified it but asked me for boot media. Tried the SSD in a laptop, it boots right up. Like wtf?

Could be a bad SATA cable? Since the laptop has the connectors on the board itself that the SSD slots into, and considering it's the only one that boots with it, I'd say that might be a good possibility.

@Runefox @FAQBytes Ill try booting from a linux usb.

Does it boot on other systems? Have you tried a different HDD with a fresh install?

@FAQBytes No, the only system it boots on is my laptop. Don't have anymore drives.

Is there anything critical on it? Would you be able to transfer anything important and then fresh installing the OS?

@FAQBytes Ill try right now.

Also, stupid question, but you're sure you are plugging in the power for the SSD? Just gotta cover all the bases. You also never answered if it showed up in the BIOS.

@FAQBytes It shows up in the BIOS so there should be power to it.

But do you have the power cable attached? There should be 2 cables going to it.

On the laptop, are you able to transfer files to and from it (SSD works)?

Have you used the motherboard before (Motherboard ports are OK)?

@FAQBytes Yes, I can transfer files. Also I have used this board before.

Hmm... I'm afraid there's not much more I can do from here. My sincere apologies.

As much as I hate taking stuff to repair shops, you might have to if you can't figure it out yourself.
