Hey Guys,

First i want to apologize for my bad english .

I want to built a new server around an Pentium G4400 and want to use FreeNas with a Raid 5. Mainly it is used as a music and video streaming pc in my Network but also used for some storage of data. It will work with WoL but 24/7 available. I want to try a H170 or H170M as a motherboard for the server, but they are not able to work with ECC RAM as ECC. So do i need ECC RAM in this Homeserver or not?

And if this is your question, yes i want to combine a minimum of costs with a maximum of performance and "data security". Thats the reason why I am not directly pick a super expensive server motherboard.

I am really struggeling with this question and don´t know what i should do, because i found so many different answers online.

I am looking forward to an answer,
