thunderbolt dock - hdmi resolution/refresh rate

What is the limitation of the resolutikn/refresh rate when using hdmi from a thunderbold 2 dock that has hdmi 14b.

 believe hdmi 14b can do 4k but at 30Hz which is not very usefull but can lso do 2560x1400 at 60Hz. Anyone know if the bandwith of thunderbolt 2 can support this?

 

there are some thunderbold2 docks with hdmi. Has anyone any experience with them? i would like to onow f 2560x1600 is possible and at which refresh rate

If the dock uses HDMI 14b, then that will be your bottleneck, and it won't be able to do 4K at anything more than 30Hz.

 

Thunderbolt 2 is based on Displayport 1.2, and can support 4K at 60Hz (provided your GPU is capable).
