Recently I was contacted to help fix a computer at my college. What I was told was that after a Windows 10 update it wouldn't start properly. When I got to the computer I found out it wasn't able to post. The error that came up was 0xc00000e9.Which I started it back up again, and the error had vanished, and began a Windows Repair. It got to the point where it asked if I'd like to do a startup repair, or just reset the system. I attempted a startup repair, and it failed so the computer restarted again. When it got back to the repair I decided to wipe the system. As it was brand new and there was no pre-existing software on it. Once I was able to get the system to post after the reset. I used crystal disk and it said one of the SSD was wearing out, but that made no sense as the system is only about two weeks old. So I checked in event viewer. The system being brand new had logged in about 177 or so errors since the reset. I've attached the logs to the event viewer. I wasn't sure what format everyone would like so I've attached both files in two preferred formats.

  • Windows 10 Pro
  • Gigabyte Motherboard
  • Nvidia GTX 960
  • Samsung 850 Evo 1 TB (Boot Drive)
  • Samsung 850 Evo 2 TB

Some of the data for the system I don't recall I am not at the physical location at the moment. I had an IT look at it that day, and he noticed the 90 degree SATA cable to the 1 TB SSD wasn't connected properly, and had almost no slack to it at all. He showed me and the SATA cable was almost not even connected to the SSD itself. Now he came up with two theories, which I'd like anyone here to maybe expand on or give their opinion on the event viewer data. One theory was that in the event viewer data it shows that the system is failing to write to itself and it is constantly trying to do that. Which is why the SSD data on CrystalDisk is saying it's worn out. The theory is that it may be a controller issue with the motherboard itself or something along the line of the SSD.

The system is currently turned off, but if you need to know more about the data I can probably provide more later within the hour.
