AC IV Strange resolution

When I launch AC IV either through UPlay or Steam @ 3440x1440 or 2560x1080 it's stretched and doesn't fill the screen vertically. It's fine at 2560x1440 but I prefer to play it at 2560x1080. I've relaunched steam and uplay as well as restarting my system which worked when this happened lastweek. I've also verified the game cache... any advice?

AC4 doesn't handle resolutions other than 16:9 very well, unfortunately.

well for some reason after restarting the game like 10 times it worked. I'll try the patched exe, thanks
