Don't go out for 2x GPU's, SLI/X-fire is really for people looking for more power down the line eg. I bought my first 970 November 2014 and added the second in Nov 15.

For the price of 2x 380X you could get a Fury, Nano or 980 and wouldn't have to deal with the extra heat, extra power consumption and problems with scaling etc. You could also then add another of these cards later down the line

Don't buy two gpus off the bat, unless they're already the top end gpus (980ti, Fury X, etc)

You'll almost always get a better experience buying the single more powerful gpu as opposed to two.

That being said, for the price of two 380x's you could get a sapphire Fury tri-x/nitro, which is an amazing gpu. Not to mention you can save around 60$ doing that, which you can then turn around and spend on something like a new 250gb ssd, which is always a fun investment.
