Commissioned Gaming Rig

theatomicbrainfart

A buddy of mine commissioned me to build this for him around the time of his birthday, and I figured I'd share it here.

  • MSI Gaming 5 Z97
  • i5 4690k at 4.2GHz 1.1V
  • 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz 9-9-9-24
  • Corsair H80i GT
  • Gigabyte R9 290X at 1100/1500 +25mV
  • Corsair CX850M
  • NZXT H440 Red/Black
  • Samsung 850 Evo 120GB
  • WD Blue 1TB

Total Cost: $1067.98

He definitely is enjoying it, and it works great in all the games he plays.

It was also mostly built in January of last year, so prices reflect that. RAM was still $88.99 for 8GB of 1866 vs the $40 it is now, but the 290X was only $335 at that point. CPU was $200, Mobo was $105.99, cooler was $80 (bought this past month), SSD and HDD were $45 a piece, and PSU was $70.
