8350 bottleneck

im trying to plan my new gaming build im leaning toward 8350 fx with asus crosshair v and 2way xfire 7970s. the main question i have is how does the 8350 perform with highend gpu in xfire will it bottleneck ive read that it will and that it wont. i dont really wantto use z77 because its dead now and im hopeing the steamroller will perform well. does anyone have benchmarks or experience with a similar build. id like to stay with the 990fx over x79 for the cost reasons and all i really do is game. i have a 144hz monitor so i want to be able to push fps

Both platforms are relatively comparible when it comes to multi gpu performance.

To my knowlage 990fx does not support PCI-e gen3 but will run both cards @ 16x on the gen2 PCI-e bus.

Z77 supports PCI-e gen3 but will only run both cards @ 8x on the gen3 PCI-e bus. ( In theory 2x8 pci-e gen3 = 2x16 pci-3 gen2 and we know as of right now pci-e gen3 really has little to no advantage over the gen2 bus)

Here is a great review on 7970 crossfire on the 990FX platform with an 8350@4.8 and a Z77 platform with a 3570k@4.8

Since Intel released the core2duo chipsets such as X38, X48,X58 I personally have been in love with Intel platforms.

I have personally used P45, X38, P67, Z77. I have had such good and reliable success with Intel platforms I currently will not consider the competition at this point however they are starting to pick up thier game with the 8350.

Both platforms will work well for you and In my opinion they are both comparable without a clear winner.

I would suggest sticking with Intel for Reliable Efficient Raw Computing Power
