So one more question, would you suggest a 980ti or a 970? I'm playing games like ArmA3, The Division, CS:GO, BF4, etc. and probably at 1080p, possibly 1440p

Sorry for the late response, definately 980(ti)(don't get the 980, because the 980 ti is out and it kills it for about a 100 more).  at 1440p with those titles 970 is a bit underpowered.

Not sure as I'm not a laptop person, but I would guess barely

I was considering getting a Razer Blade Stealth and buying the Razer Core for the external GPU (970). Since the Blade Stealth has a dual core CPU (i7-6500U), would it be able to handle a 970 without any issues?

I think it would handle it without any issues.

My friend is doing the same thing, he already has the blade and LOVES IT, he got it about a week ago.  He has a desktop, and when the core comes out plans on parting it out for sale and keeping his 980 ti and using that with the core.  He came to me fore advice in terms of a possible bottle neck, so I have done my research, It seems that with a 980 ti there should be no bottleneck, so I can say with confidence that the 970 will be totally fine, no bottlenecks.  Razer did such a great job, the blade with a core would be the best option for everybody, if they could just figure out how to get a quad core in that tiny form factor, but if you don't stream, and you just play games, browse the web and talk to friends, the blade with a 970 in the core is a great option

So a 980ti would work fine? Maybe I'll consider upgrading it to that..

I wouldn't upgrade just becuase 980 is a bigger number than 970.  What type of games do you play, and do u plan on getting the 1440p or 4k version of the blade(for gaming i would recommend 1440p because even a 980 ti will have trouble with many games at that res.

I was gonna go with the 4k (I want the 512GB version, and unfortunately it's not available with the 1440p). I'd be using an external monitor or two, the Blade monitor won't be my main (the monitors would be 1080p, possibly 1440p). Games like The Division, CS:GO, ArmA 3, BF4, the new NFS, etc

Ok, that's fine, because if you try playing a game at 4k on a dual core with a 980 ti, u might come across some hiccups.  at 1440p and 1080p, a 980 ti is definately justifiable.  ONe thing to watch out for though, on a dual core, the cpu will begin to bottleneck the gpu if u have chrome open listening to music, and ur using skype to talk to friends, and ur playing a game, and u have a few other apps open.  You will have to be mindful of your cpu usage, but if u can keep it to a voice chat software and a game, you'll be fine

can you explain "bottleneck"? sorry, I'm pretty new to all this lol

No problem.  The first thing i want to mention is that people will throw around the word "bottleneck" a lot, and most of the time they are wrong in their use of the word.  A bottleneck, in terms of PCs, would be if you have a pretty weak cpu and a really strong gpu( for example an old pentium dual core and a 980 ti), so that the gpu's performance would be limited or capped at a certain point because the cpu can't keep up.  It's not super complicated, but people will say that a quad core will bottleneck a 980 ti because it doesn't have hyperthreading or something stupid, so just know that most of the time, there is no bottleneck, and if you play your games at 1440p and limit your cpu usage, then there will be no bottleneck

Makes sense. Thanks!

And is there any way I'd be able to monitor my CPU usage if I was going that route, and how would I know if I was overdoing it?

Yeah, task manager.  It's built in and works fine.  Im sure u probably know how to get there, but just in case, or for anybody else who reads this who doesn't know, ctrl + alt + del, task manager, performance tab.  THis will show your cpu usage as well as network and disks and other stuff.  If cpu usage is at 100%, then obviously it is maxed out, but this doesn't mean there is a bottleneck.  If you download something like msi afterburner and monitor the gpu usage as well, then u can find out.  if the cpu usage is at 100 and the gpu is at like 80, that would be a bottleneck because the gpu isn't working as hard as it can because of the cpu(cuz the cpu IS working as hard as it can)

Ah okay. I do check task manager pretty often, I was wondering if there was something else I might've needed. Anyway, I really appreciate it, thank you!

I'm gonna shrivel up and fucking die if you're thinking about using a hyperthreaded dual core with a 970 to play games at 1440p.

Useless, heh. Have fun playing GTA 5 or Just Cause 3 with a dual core.
