My video looked really nice before it was uploaded to youtube now it looks terrible. How did he get the good quality when all the settings are the same and youtube doesn't give up the option to edit bitrate.

Looks very similar to me.

By the way you choose the bitrate before rendering the video.

Having a higher bitrate makes the file larger but improves quality.

When I render the video with a high bitrate the quality is great then... youtube, kurplunk.

The short answer is, don't upload a compressed, low bitrate video to youtube.

You want to upload a high bitrate video to youtube because youtube will always encode / compress it once you upload the original. Let's say you are recording a video and you are streaming, so you have a 3500kbps bitrate but you record it in an mp3 format. Mp3 might compress it further, so that while you see a nice video stream, it isn't actually recorded that way.
