Is this kit any good? I am only cooling my cpu, ocd. I want to keep price below 300, 

Or is it better to piece out my own?

Yes that is a good starting kit for a watercooling loop and would allow you even add in a GPU block if desired. Only thing is the DDC pump which is not as silent as something like the D5.

Thanks for the quick reply, I was looking at a mcp 50 and res, is this good or should I just get a d5? Also I like quiet, what the best price performance d5 with res?

If your talking about the MCP 50x or DDC pump units which are the same as the one in the kit, the D5's between all the ones out there they are the same design just rebranded, but EK makes a pretty nice pump res unit:
