Hello guys! I'm looking into upgrading from my 8 gb of ram to about 16gb but was curious if it would be beneficial at all. I do play games on my computer but I also use photoshop, flash and zbrush for school on occasion. I use photoshop more frequently. I was wondering if i could just buy another 8gb kit of 2 sticks to just throw in there to save some money. I used the crucial website scanner thing and it said these were compatible with my motherboard http://www.amazon.com/dp/B006WAGGUK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=150F8Y1SLYFZG&coliid=I2PYS7DKUKHQF5&psc=1

Another quick question was should I worry about upgrading my GPU. I have a 280x right now and have noticed a bit of slow downs in games like Ark but I know that game is terribly optimized. lol Well thanks in advance guys :)

Are you mixing memory brands and types?

CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600x | GPU GIGABYTE GTX 1070ti WINDFORCE | MOBO ASUS Prime X570-P | MEMORY XPG Spectrix 2x8GB 3200MHz  | PSU OCZ Zx 850W | CASE NZXT H440

I'm not sure of the brand would have to open up the case but more than likely. The type is the same ddr3 memory.

If you are mixing brands or different memory sticks it will work 90% of the time, just a heads up.

will different speeds mess up things. The ram I currently have is about 1333 mhz and the ram i posted in my first post looks like 1600mhz

It may but if it works, it will run at the lowest of the sticks

Ok thats fine. Is ram speed that important actually?

Not really. Linus has videos about ram performance.

If your having issues in ark make sure its set to DX12 for the API... your 280x should perfrom well. Also it might be something to look into but you should be able to use open CL with photoshop. 8gig is a fair bit of ram its hard to max it out...

how do I go about changing the API to DX12?

yeah DX12 was supposed to fix all those issues I haven’t gotten onto Ark in a while. I thought they implemented it but it seems they delayed the patch. I know the initially delayed it so I left it alone lol. Haven’t been back to it since.
