Worthy upgrade?

What do you think? The purchased parts are what I currently have and will be carrying over, the CPU, motherboard, RAM and case are all new.

 

Other than that I was thinking of getting a i5-4690k with a decent CPU cooler and the same case etc. and overclocking it a bit.

 

Which do you think would be better?

Remember though that one can overclock, while the other can't. Of course Skylake is probably more future proof

I know but I thought that I may as well get a more future proof system and save the money now then have to spend out more later

Gotcha. Then maybe just get a z170 mobo instead so in the future you could get a 6600k or 6700k and overclock it.

Also keep in mind that you can't run ram at higher than 2133 mhz on h170. You can only overclock memory on z170. XMP doesn't work on anything except the z series mobo.

So do you think I should go for a z170 mobo for all round better performance and upgrade purposes?
