Hi guys, I'm new to this forum, so apologies if this is not correct spot for this thread.

I looked at Linus' excellent video overview of the new Razer Blade and like him and many others, I would love to get this laptop if only it had a better screen. Ideally, I would like for it to have a 1080p IPS touchscreen like on the Aspire V7-482PG.

I've researched around on screen replacement for the Blade, but I couldn't find any information on what kind of LVDS connector or the screen panel part number, etc. So I would like to ask for your guys' assistance/advice in doing this mod, thanks.

First, if anyone here owns a Razer Blade 14, could you run AIDA64 (or similar utility) and look under Display > Monitor and copy the info listed? That little bit of info would be a huge help in finding out what type of LVDS interface the motherboard uses, thanks.

More generally, if any modders have experience with laptop screens, could you answer a couple of questions?

1) In your experience do most modern (c.2012-2013) laptops use a standardized 30 or 40 pin LVDS interface? Or is it more likely, in general, that new LCD panels are not interchangeable even if they have the same connector?

2) Is touch input normally communicated through the LVDS cable or a separate USB cable for newer touchscreen laptops? If it is through USB, you know of a convenient way to mod an external USB port to accept the touchscreen connector?

Thanks, everyone! Hopefully this mod goes well!

Do you have any experience with this kind of not than don't do it; test it on a old laptop first

And welcome to the forum

I have several old laptops that I may disassemble before trying this. But the thing is, they all use old LVDS cables and don't have touchscreens.  I'm not sure they would be a good test of the feasibility for this mod.

As for experience, I have an electrical engineering background and often work with circuit components, but I haven't actually replaced a laptop screen with a (non-original) replacement.

EDIT: For anyone who's interested, the discussion of this mod has continued on this forum.
