TV not working? Please help!

Guys, i need urgent help. I knocked over my 32" samsung tv im using as a monitor(kinda hard not to when its got tiny feet, and is light as a sheet of cardboard). It didnt fall far, as the surface its sitting on is level with my bed. It seemed ok at the time, so i turned it off and went to sleep. Today i went to turn it on, and BAD news! No picture to speak of! It seems to light up a little bit, but no colors. Please, im begging you, is there any way I can fix this??? Its the only display that I have and I dont have anywhere close to the money needed to replace it, nor will i for a very long time.

Knock it over to the other side at equal force. :D

Kidding aside, something has come loose in it. No way of knowing what exactly is going on without opening it up. Even then it might not be clearly visible. Like most solders aren't. Short of cracking it open, you could try some other connector maybe. Or just wait to see if it turns on over time.

Well, did you already test all the inputs?

Not sure how i would do that... Theres no picture on the screen. Even if I click the source button on my remote to try to change the input, i get no feedback...

No I meant just to try all the different HDMI connectors on it. And VGA and wahtever you have there. Hoping it would switch the source automatically or by unplugging and plugging it back in maybe.

well its never changed sources automatically even when it was working, however i just tried it anyway and as i suspected nothing happened. It looked like the tv blinked off for a second then lit up again(no picture just s lighter shade of black from it being lit) I also tried unplugging it and plugging it in again. Same thing.

I found this article saying it might fix it if I reseat the lamp. Is this safe?

http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/tv-seems-to-turn-on-but-no-picture-323236/

The DLP TV is one of those huge honking early-2000's rear-projection TVs. They basically have a projector in the back and a semi-translucent screen in the front. The lamp is for the projector and since it can burn out like any other bulb, it's made to be changeable which is why it has a connector that can become loose. Leading to why it might need to be reseated. Your TV however either has cold-cathodes or LEDs for backlights. Neither are really meant to be swapped and they're usually mounted in such a way that they're really hard to access. Since I have no idea what exactly is causing the issue, I'm not going to say the lamps aren't causing this, but for the very least it would be way more difficult than what's explained in that article you posted. :/

I dont know if this helps determine the problem at all, but i managed to get it set on one of the inputs, and it seems im getting audio output but still no video.

It might then be what I originally suspected. There should be a ribbon cable that leads from the controlled PCB to the LCD which can come loose from being knocked over. The white thing in this picture. It'd certainly explain why there is backlight and sound but no colors.

Ok, I'm gonna try to open up the TV  and plug the cable back in. Before i open it, is there anything I should avoid touching if I want to live?

The power supply is a dangerous place even after unplugging. Residual power can remain in capacitors for hours and it can be very high voltage. So steer clear of the board around where the power cord would plug in. Usually the entire power supply has a separate metal enclosure which makes it a bit safer but it can be just a circuit board too.
