I was working to overclock my R9 290 using MSI Afterburner, and I seem to be having the opposite problem most people have with getting settings to stick.

I don't have the "Apply at Startup" box checked, but my GPU clock settings are always set when I boot Windows. This is a problem because while fiddling to establish an overclock, if it gets unstable and crashes, the only way to fix it is to boot to safe mode, reinstall the drivers, and start again.

Right now I'm just running 1000/1350 (which is all I need) with the power limit turned up, no other changes. I was trying to establish an undervolt to help keep the temperature lower.

I used DDU to wipe drivers, and then reinstalled 15.300.1025.1001 and nothing else (no Catalyst center or anything) as I thought maybe that was interfering, but still the same outcome, the clocks are present on boot.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Am I just missing something totally obvious?
