We are in the process of choosing a TV for our upstairs living room. It is brightly lit and most of the viewing will be done in daylight with the dark, night movie watching being reserved mainly for downstairs. I want anywhere from 40-50 inches with 46" being the sweet spot. No need for 4k since we will be sitting 10 feet away and with a TV that size 4k won't make a difference (and our internet can't stream it anyways). Sound is a concern as we will for the moment be using the built in speakers, but in the future a soundbar may be a good choice so its not a high priority. Biggest things are

  • 40-50 inches
  • Bright enough to easily watch in a bright room without glaring
  • Good contrast ratio and a decent backlight for the occasional night viewing
  • usable built in speakers
  • under $500 USD

Anyone have any suggestions?
