OpenWRT wireless repeater problem

I have a TP-LINK TL-WA850RE which i have installed openwrt onto and that uses my iPhones personal hotspot as a WAN interface and i can connect to the router via wifi or ethernet after creating using LAN interface. 

 

The problem is sometimes it creates a new wifi network for me to connect to and sometimes it doesn't. It can be days without a wifi network then all of sudden my ipad will find the network and connect to it then it will be back on for a few days. I do disconnect my personal hotspot a few times a week to use that sim card in another device which could explain why it randomly turns on and off. But im not too sure what the reason behind this is, maybe the it is affected by connection settings which get reset when i disconnect my personal hotspot

 

If anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appreciated. I have tried googling and struggling to find information about this.
