Ebay Question

Hey guys, just a quick question.

What happens if the Ebay seller spends the money paid for an item before the buyer gets it, then the buyers askes for a refund (e.g. fraudulent claim of damage and seller must refund but has no money on debit card or in PayPal balance?)

Thanks

Literally just had this happen to me..It's horrid. They'll contact PayPal and PayPal will deduct the money out of your balance with force and you'll be negative.

Then the seller has to pay the refund. It's not the buyer's fault that the seller spent to money before the transaction was completed, so it's up to the seller to find a way to get the money.

The buyer would have the right to sue for the money if the seller does not pay the refund.

EDIT: For small amounts, PayPal will normally cover it until the seller can pay (think they give you a week or so). If it's a larger amount, then the seller may have to get a loan, sell things and so on in order to make up the money.

Thanks, was just curious.

Similar question but what happens if you don't have enough money to pay the Ebay Invoice? Is it carried over to the next month?

Just curious before I start selling on Ebay as i've heard a number of horror stories.

It will normally work as an overdraft type deal with PayPal. That would depend on the amount, though. If it's small, it may just be carried over, but larger amounts, they'll want you to pay quickly.

A good practice when selling on eBay is to not spend the money you get from selling before A) The buyer has left feedback B. The eBay invoice has been paid for that month.
