So I have been trying to install Linux on to my system for quite some time now in attempts to Dual Boot between Win 8.1 and Linux.

Here is the error I get.

Loading, please wait...fsck from util-linux 2.25.2/dev/sdc1: clean, 34776/549440 files, 288845/2196992 blocks

Now it's not exactly an error but regardless of how long I leave the PC alone nothing happens, I can still reboot by hitting CTRL+ALT+DEL

I am trying to install from a DVD.

Here is a list of things I have tried.

- 2 Different Hard Drives in case one hard drive was bad.

- 5 Different distros of Linux - Crunchbang, Bunsen Labs, Debian 8, Kali and Linux Mint, Mint, Kali and BL are the most recently available downloads.

- 5 Different Discs (DVD R)

- Removing all drives except the one with Linux installed on it.

just incase it's a specs issue here are my specs I've been testing with

HDD(s): WD Blue 1TB, WD Blue 320GB

CPU: Intel i5 4960k

Ram: 32GB Cosair Vengance

GFX: 2x960 GTX 2GB This issue was present when I had only one GTX

Mobo: Z97x Gaming 5

The only thing I can think of is to remove the GFX cards and HDDs then install and see if it will boot with the integrated gfx and single HDD?

Try installing from a Kali "Live" USB by mounting the kali install files onto a usb via PowerIso (free software). Boot into Kali live and open gparted and create the linux partitions. Then power off and reboot into a graphical install. This way, the install won't freeze at the partitioner. Also some previous context like "are you booting from dvd-rw or dvd/cd" would be necessary to find the actual problem, but for now, the USB install needs to be tried first.

You can find simple guides for the USB live install on the Kali pages: http://docs.kali.org/installation/kali-linux-hard-disk-install and http://docs.kali.org/installation/dual-boot-kali-with-windows

(Switch between them and follow instructions eg, you need to use some parts of the hard disk install, up to the point where you get to the partition selector)

I have a USB with Kali spare, will update the main post with info you requested though.

Still no luck! :(

are you using grub bootloader? To me it looks like linux is booting from cd rather than from the hard drive and I'm questioning whether you have installed linux entirely. Other than that the only other ts I can suggest is try a different mobo.(depends if you overclocked)
