Welp, once again my computer is dead. This time I have no idea why though. I went to do a normal reboot since I've been running it for a while, and it hasn't come back on. The case fans spin up, the power led turns on and that's about it. Gpu fan doesn't spin, hdd doesn't do anything, black screen.
I've let it sit unplugged for a while, tried clearing the cmos, still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Current System: R7 1700x 3.93Ghz, PowerColor R9 380x 1.14ghz, 16gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 3200mhz, EVGA 650 GS

Try running it without the motherboard in the case

Hhmm, how is your GPU connected? Does it have the 6/8 pin PCI connector to the power supply or is it fed by the PCI slot only?

6 pin connector.

Your power supply could be faulty.

Have you tried another power supply?

This is the only power supply I have. I was actually planning on getting an EVGA G2 here soon. But I'm really thinking it's this motherboard that's bad. The thing is really cheap, and it wouldn't be the first time I've had issues with it.

Yeah that's possible too, the symptoms you have really sound similar to what I had when my power supply failed.

Yeah. Well I've had a motherboard die, and a power supply fail. Both give similar results. Although this time I didn't get any pop or smoke from the power supply. But idk, I think what I'm going to do is go ahead and save up for a new motherboard as well as purchase the EVGA G2 I was planning on getting anyway. That way I don't have to run into anymore problems, hopefully. But knowing my luck that probably isn't going to happen :P

Yeah, if the mb is cheap then it might not be the best quality. Go on amazon, and search for a well known brand, the model of your cpu and the mb size you need. I would reccomend Gigabyte or Asus. Find one that supports all of your stuff, has the features you need and is affordable. Also, I would reccomend a relitively new one.

Haha if you replace both nothing can happen I guess.

My PSU didn't pop either, it just didn't completely power the system anymore.

Yeah I had the same situation, I had a popped cap in the power supply and it had a few other problems (which I didn't know until I opened it when my new PSU came in), if I power cycled it a few times it'd power on with a less power supplied (I wouldn't recommend running a damaged PSU (could kill your PC) but I needed my PC) until my EVGA G2 I replaced it with came in. It's more than likely the power supply

I've never opened one, I just got a new one and immediately got myself a new CPU+mobo too

I wouldn't recommend opening one, the BIG caps can kill you. That's my PSA service announcement for today lol
