So I bought a dead 270x to try to fix. Unfortunately, all VRMS work fine...

The system is my brother's PC. @Iamdarkbowser

I have the 270x in the second slot. The BIOS detects the card, windows detects the card, but as soon as I plug ANY monitor into the card, the screens go black and the system crashes. Happens as soon as something tries to output video on the card. I already tried reflashing BIOS. Any ideas? I wonder if the card wpuld work with F@H or in crossfire as the second card...

Any missing parts?  How do the solder joints look?

They all look fine. I tested the voltage outputs for each of the VRMS and they all look happy.

You took a gamble, and it seems you lost, friend... Sorry about that. lol Maybe get a second working one and start replacing each piece, one at a time to isolate the problem.

One does not stop this quickly!

Try uninstalling any AMD drivers and software and see if it works then.

The GPU's chip might be faulty then.  Could be bad memory on the GPU's board too.  Could try to replace the past to see if that does anything.  You'd have to replace one or the other if that's one of the first two is the issue.

That could certainly be the issue... the directcuii cooler is a piss poor design. Might reflow the videoram (I am sure all of you here were guessing it was an asus card)

oddly enough, after putting the card in here, all CCC software seems to have done poofed

Go into device manager, show hidden, and uninstall the graphics card.

Check in Add and Remove Programs to ensure it's entirely gone.

After that, try reinstalling it before plugging it back in.

Two other systems had the same issue, but its worth a shot. I am thinking something is dead on the card. Tried F@H and it crashed as soon as the card started doing math.

Hopefully you still have a warranty.

No warranty, I bought it on ebay for 41 bucks hoping it was a dead mosfet, as those are easy to replace... If not, I now have a cooler for my 8800gts xD

Argh, hmmm....

See if the cooler is making contact with any metal components on board.

Nope. Nothing of the sort. I have checked the basic electronics on it and they all seem to be working fine. Might have to attempt a reflow...

Do you have a reflow profile for it? Also might want to remove those plastic PCI-E power slots before doing that in case they aren't rated for it. (You might regret it if you don't and it isn't.)

They can probably withstand reflow temps, I will test them with my temperature controlled soldering iron
