Astro Mixamp Pro TR not working correctly, need help!

So after spending about 3 days looking for solutions to my problem without any advancements, I can say, I'm finally done.. 

 

So, the mixamp works, I can change the volume and so on, but the surround function does not work and neither does the EQ presets. I hear no difference at all between the different ones. I have it plugged in optically and via USB, but if I plug out my optical cable, the mixamp continues to work, so all the sound go via USB. 

 

I have a z87-G45 motherboard and Siberia V2 headset for now but picking up Beyerdynamic DT 990 later today.

 

If I still can't fix this after this, I'll probably send it back and get something else.

 

My friend whose "good" with sound recommended this, but he have never used it so he can't help me. But I would appreciate all the help I can get!
