R9 380

Dodoxa

Hello, I built a computer for my friend couple of weeks ago, he was in quite a hurry and didnt let me test it before taking it home. Now hes experiencing lag in all of hes games even in the menu screens.imnot in the same city as he is at the moment so i couldnt go there and see what the problem was so i told him not hop on teamviewer, Im not very knowledgeable about amd cards and their drivers since the last amd card ive owned was a HD 5870. But i did some trouble shooting and launched furmark hes gpu usage was jumping between 1% and 100% every second and furmarks fps was around 46 on 720p.

system specs:

amd fx 8320
r9 380
gigabyte ga 970a ds3p

corsair vs 650w

There's no bottleneck, so it looks like a driver issue.

Have him uninstall all VGA drivers, then install fresh ones from AMD.com. Make sure you get the correct ones.

I used to be quite active here.

If it's not pegged at 100% GPU, then it may be a CPU issue. While the 8320 isn't the fastest CPU, it's also not the slowest, I actually have one and don't see issues like that. BUT if you had some temperature throttling on your cpu? That might happen.

But try reinstalling the drivers first... Reseating the heatsink isn't really for amateurs :o
